Autism 2 Essay
Autism 2 Essay Autism 2 Essay Jacquari Hayes April 7, 2014 Health I Period 7 AUTISM Autism in the U.S. has increased 78% in the past decade. 1 in 88 children are estimated to have autism in America. In 1911 a Swiss psychiatrist, Eugene Bleur started using the term. In 1940 researchers in the U.S. used the term to describe children with emotional or social problems. Autism and Schizophrenia were linked up until the 1960ââ¬â¢s. Autism has to deal with the mind. Autism affects regions of the brain that have to do with social interaction, communication, and reasoning. Government study showed that children with autism had problems with complex tasks. This suggests that different parts of the autistic brain have difficulty working together to process complex information. Autism doesnââ¬â¢t really affect the body physically. Itââ¬â¢s more internally like your nervous system. A symptom of autism is the inability to communicate. Difficulty interpreting body language and holding conversations. Other symptoms that may include unusual behaviors are interest in object s or specialized information, reactions to sensations, and physical coordination. Autism now affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys. Adults with autism that are told that they have autism or are on the autism spectrum, tend to have low self esteem. When told, they start to feel even worse about themselves. Once they understand they start blaming every thing on themselves. This makes people with autism feel more so isolated than liberated. From the 1960ââ¬â¢s

World War II Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 2
World War II - Essay Example The main story is a fiction but it revolves around the attack on Pearl Harbor and some of the incidents shown in the movie relate to what we have learned in the course. The aspect in the movie that impressed me the most in the movie is that how the attack was a big surprise to the Americans and how it lead to Americaââ¬â¢s official entry into the World War II. Also the re-creation of the war scenes was very impressive as some of the scenes were exactly as photographed on the unfortunate day on December 7, 1941. We have learnt in our courses that at the time of the attack, Japan was still in peace talks with America. And the attack was a complete surprise. This is very well depicted in the movie. The president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, emphasizes on the Nazi Germany as the main enemy and how America needs to support Winston Churchill (Britain) and Stalin (Russia) by sending men and weapons. Japan is not treated as a threat at all and Europe is seen as the main danger. Also it is depi cted in the movie how the American strategists believe that Pearl Harbor can not be attacked due to its geographical isolation. One scene that stands out with this context is when a soldier states that he did not even know that Japan was sore against the US.

Sartres Philosophy Essays -- Philosophy Sartre Essays Papers
Sartre's Philosophy Sartre believed that one day man happened, or occurred, and after this anomalous event manââ¬â¢s life took meaning. With this theory, Sartre articulated the premise that ââ¬Å"existence precedes essenceâ⬠. Through this assumption, Sartre evolves further ideas in which a human can gain a greater understanding of human nature and responsibility. à à à à à In his theory stating that ââ¬Å"existence precedes essenceâ⬠, Sartre takes the belief that life has a meaning that far transcends our short and insignificant lives. He believed that life has no meaning unless we gave it meaning. In the search for life, we become anguished by the affairs of life. Sartre believed that when this occurred, we pursue a fundamental project in an attempt to flee this anguish. Sartre said that in this, we try to make ourselves Gods in hopes that others will see us as divine, and hold us in high or higher regard. To pursue a fundamental project according to Sartre is to act in bad faith. Consequently, to act in bad faith, according to Sartre is to manifest our freedom inauthenticaly. à à à à à Sartre assessed how when man acknowledges and accepts that he is a living being with a biological and social past. He can transcend beyond that to nothingness, the realm of the etre pour soi (the ââ¬Å"being-for-itselfâ⬠). At this point he is, according to Sartre, clearheaded and in good faith. Because he is acting in good faith, he is not pursuing a fundamental project in an attempt to ci...
