Autism 2 Essay
Autism 2 Essay Autism 2 Essay Jacquari Hayes April 7, 2014 Health I Period 7 AUTISM Autism in the U.S. has increased 78% in the past decade. 1 in 88 children are estimated to have autism in America. In 1911 a Swiss psychiatrist, Eugene Bleur started using the term. In 1940 researchers in the U.S. used the term to describe children with emotional or social problems. Autism and Schizophrenia were linked up until the 1960ââ¬â¢s. Autism has to deal with the mind. Autism affects regions of the brain that have to do with social interaction, communication, and reasoning. Government study showed that children with autism had problems with complex tasks. This suggests that different parts of the autistic brain have difficulty working together to process complex information. Autism doesnââ¬â¢t really affect the body physically. Itââ¬â¢s more internally like your nervous system. A symptom of autism is the inability to communicate. Difficulty interpreting body language and holding conversations. Other symptoms that may include unusual behaviors are interest in object s or specialized information, reactions to sensations, and physical coordination. Autism now affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys. Adults with autism that are told that they have autism or are on the autism spectrum, tend to have low self esteem. When told, they start to feel even worse about themselves. Once they understand they start blaming every thing on themselves. This makes people with autism feel more so isolated than liberated. From the 1960ââ¬â¢s
